I don't think kernel version or 64-bit affects this, but Glibc version
could.  However, mine is 2.11.2 i.e. nearly same, so I wouldn't expect
it to be cause for this either... -> I wonder what could cause it.

Which Linux distro you're using?

Do you run your HW clock in UTC (as is default I think)?
